Controversy Forces White Sox To Clothe Blow-Up Dolls May 7, 2008
“We certainly don’t want to offend anyone” - Ozzie Guillen
Chicago – Hoping to mollify public criticism about the naked inflatable blow-up dolls spread about their clubhouse, the Chicago White Sox have decided to clad their “good luck girls” in fish-net stockings with the team logo. “Buddy (MLB commissioner Bud Selig) called and shared that he thought the dolls shouldn’t be buck naked,” said Sox manager Ozzie Guillen. “We certainly don’t want to offend anyone.” In a related development Chicago-based Sears Roebuck & Co. donated two electric air pumps to the White Sox before Tuesday’s game which they won 7-1. “The pumps are great,” said Guillen. “Blowing up our dolls before the game really tired the guys out. No wonder we weren’t hitting.” Ironically, the White Sox may well be turning lemons into lemonade as reports surface that GM Ken Williams is talking to Frederick’s of Hollywood about a lucrative marketing deal featuring the “White Sox Good Luck Girls.”The blow-up dolls were originally inserted in the locker room in an attempt to break the team’s recent batting slump.
Guillen denied that the dolls would be traveling with the team. “The guys all have girl friends on the road so getting lucky isn’t an issue.”Reader Responses No responses for this article
